Introducing Pearl and her penguin friends and family…
Pearl is an intrepid penguin, she loves learning new things and meeting new people. She is going with Bryony, a British Antarctic doctor, to Rothera Station in Antarctica.
PC (penguin co-editor) Percy is going to be helping Pearl and Bryony out with the website while they are away from fast internet. Here he is watching his penguin friends splashing around in the pool. He has moulted a bit, but he is a real penguin. Honest.
Philip, “Prince Philip”, is a very funny penguin and loves to make people laugh, which as a penguin is very easy. They are just funny looking.
Noah with Philip.
He lives with Noah Waise in Poole his sister…
“Sleeping Beauty” Petra is a dancer, although she is much more elegant in water she is not allowed to do this with her ballet dress on. She lives with Noah’s sister Laila Waise in Poole.

Pricilla, loves to dress up, especially as a Princess. She hopes to be the first penguin member of the Royal family one day. She lives in Thorner (near Leeds) with Alice O’Boyle and their sisters…
Petal sings all the time, she just loves belting out songs from Disney, pop songs, nursery rhymes or big show tunes. She lives with Louise O’Boyle in Thorner, along with Alice and Pricilla, but dreams of the West End.
Paul is another sibling. He may be going grey a bit early, but he has loads of energy and runs (waddles) everywhere. He has got Miss Wade and a whole class of Herne Bay Juniors Year 4, near Canterbury in Kent, to look after him
Paco is a Pirate penguin, they are very rare as swords and the swashbuckling needed is tricky with wings, but he has got all the accessories and the accent just right. He lives with Malachi Reid in Morpeth (near Newcastle).
Patsy loves animals (other than just fish, which all penguins love. But not as pets). She would love to be a farmer or a vet and hopes to meet a few other animals when she lives at Junior Lavant school with Mrs Wade in Lavant (near Chichester).
Peggy is very day dreamy and has a big imagination. She always has her head in the clouds. Sadly not literally, as penguins can’t fly, but she dreams she can. She is being looked after by the Year 2 girls at Brighton and Hove Junior School.
Pavlova is an acrobat. She is always swinging off things and jumping around. Her poor cat, Bo, gets tired of her trying to ride her. Pricilla is living with Freya Howes in Leeds.
Finally, this is Patrick, who likes to call himself Sid. He is a very naughty penguin and is always in trouble – a slippery one. He says he is going to Antarctica too, but Bryony can only look after one penguin, so he will stay in the UK and follow Pearl’s adventures with everyone else.
And here is Pearl with all her siblings.
Now some of Pearl’s penguin friends…
Here is Pugsy Junior Junior. He is on his summer holiday in one photo and with this family: Pugsy, Pugsy Junior, Pugsy Junior 2, Pugsy Junior Junior 2 and two friends. Pugsy Junior Junior is off to South Georgia soon and will be sailing there on a ship that is going to lots of exciting places. So hopefully we can get some news from him and Emma, the British Antarctic doctor he is with.
This is Tom, a grown up penguin named after the Antarctic explorer Tom Crean (look him up, a pretty amazing guy). He is originally from the Falklands but has lived in Shoreham-by-sea, West Sussex for over 5 years now. He doesn’t fancy going back down south as he has become a little too comfortable living with Mr and Mrs Pointon, Bryony’s parents; who provide him with TV, a nice sofa and the occasional gin and tonic.
This is Pip, he is Tom’s twin brother and also came from the Falkland Islands 5 years ago (Bryony found them huddled together in a warm shop). He loves the great outdoors and cycling. He lives in Windsor, very near to the Queen. But in a much nicer house than cold Windsor Castle, with Lucy and Ian Bellinger.
Meet Slidy Simon. He likes boiled fish and a bit of tuna with tomato ketchup. His friends like skateboarding and sledging, oh and swimming, of course. His best friend is Snowy Flipper (female). He lives with Livy Tinsley and his penguin friends friends in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
This is Potty Penguin who loves to sit on his pot and wear one of his thinking caps whilst he dreams about what life in the Antarctic must be like. Although he likes to travel to visit members of his human family, he really likes to be at home with John and Marion Gurney, and sometimes at the home of their daughter Lesley who lives close by. Potty also lives close to Pip and Lucy and Ian Bellinger so what with all his visiting he is wondering if he really could also fit in a trip to see Pearl.
